What Is Organic Shampoo?
Organic is becoming a hot term and an even hotter trend, and everyone is looking to include more organic products into their daily lifestyle. The case is no different when it comes to shampoos and conditioners for your hair. Organic shampoos have been on the market since about the early 2000s, when the term “organic” really started to pop up everywhere. But, as the term organic becomes more popular, the restrictions on the term also become more stringent; and there are a few things you should know about organic shampoo before you buy it.
Organic shampoos are milder than other shampoos and don’t contain nearly the amount of synthetic ingredients such as petroleum, as other non-organic shampoos. However, according to the Organic Trade Association, a product only needs to contain 95% organic products in order to be able to claim that they are “certified ingredients.” This does mean that a product could be labelled “certified organic” but still contain some synthetic ingredients.
This does not mean however, that there are not any completely organic and completely natural products out on the market. There are many organic shampoos and conditioners that don’t contain any harmful or unnatural ingredients. You just have to make sure that you read the label and that when it says organic, you can be sure that it actually is.
In addition to the actual organic ingredients in organic shampoos, many people are also concerned as to whether or not organic shampoo will actually clean their hair. Because there are no harsh cleansers or chemicals, many people think that the shampoo simply won’t be strong enough to effectively clean their hair.
Organic shampoo actually has tons of different ingredients in it that will not only clean your hair, but will make your hair feel cleaner, and maybe even softer, than with other shampoos. Ingredients in non-organic shampoo are often very harsh and can strip hair of its natural oils. Organic shampoo will leave all the natural goodness there, while still removing dirt and oil build-up. The ingredients found in many organic shampoos to help it effectively clean hair are: green tea, castor oil, Himalayan salt, and coconut oil, to name just a few.
In addition to the cleaning ingredients that are in organic shampoo, these shampoos also add other natural ingredients to make this shampoo even more appealing. Things like rosemary, peppermint, and lavender are just a few of the ingredients that are added to organic shampoo to add scent or other elements. Peppermint for instance, can revitalize the skin on the scalp while lavender can relax it.
Organic shampoo has many benefits for the user, and you can know that what you’re using on your skin, and your hair, won’t be at all harmful or cause a bad reaction. Because the idea of using organic products is becoming so popular, organic shampoo can also be found just about anywhere today.
